Two pit bulls attack owner and injure two other people in Greater BH

Two pit bulls attacked their owner and injured two other individuals in Betim, Brazil, while the owner attempted to put a muzzle on one of the dogs.

On Saturday, a 38-year-old man was injured after being attacked by two pit bull dogs in the Teresópolis neighborhood of Betim, located in the Greater Belo Horizonte area. The incident occurred when the man attempted to place a muzzle on one of the dogs, leading the second dog to launch an attack. The victim sustained injuries to his legs, arms, and ear, highlighting the serious risk posed by the animals at that moment.

In addition to the owner, his 37-year-old wife and their 17-year-old son also suffered injuries as they tried to intervene and contain the aggressive dogs. The family's attempt to control the situation resulted in bites to their legs, indicating the chaotic nature of the attack. The owner, who experienced the most severe injuries, was subsequently transported by neighbors to João XXIII Emergency Hospital in Belo Horizonte for medical treatment.

The dogs involved in the attack were reported to be approximately 12 years old, with the male pit bull having been part of the family since it was a puppy. Following the incident, firefighters captured the dogs and transferred them to the Animal Protection Department (Sepa) in Betim for further assessment and possible action. This incident raises concerns about dog attacks and the responsibilities of pet ownership, particularly in the context of managing aggressive behaviors in dog breeds known for their strength and potential for aggression.
