In 1977, Benzing received the Premiolino award for a groundbreaking scoop about Enzo Ferrari published in Montanelli's Il Giornale, showcasing his journalistic prowess. During the 1980s and 1990s, he became known as the "technical voice" accompanying famous commentator Mario Poltronieri on Rai, where he provided insightful analysis during Formula One broadcasts.
