If you're hungry, you won't have to leave your train seat now... IRCTC has launched this service
Indian Railways has introduced a new 'e-pantry' service allowing passengers on select trains to pre-order food and water online, which will be delivered directly to their seats.
Indian Railways has announced a significant enhancement in passenger convenience with the launch of the 'e-pantry' service by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). This service is available on 25 mail and express trains, enabling passengers to pre-book food and packaged drinking water online. The meals will be delivered directly to their seats, especially beneficial for those traveling on trains where meals are not included in the ticket price. The initiative is aimed at improving travel experience through technological advancements.
The 'e-pantry' service integrates seamlessly with IRCTC's ticket booking website and mobile application. It is available for passengers whose tickets are confirmed, under the Reservation Against Cancellation (RAC) status, or partially confirmed. Travelers can place their meal orders at the time of ticket booking or afterwards by accessing the 'Book Ticket History' section. Upon ordering, they receive a confirmation via SMS or email, along with a Meal Verification Code (MVC) to ensure their order is accurately processed during their journey.
This move by IRCTC reflects a commitment to enhancing passenger convenience and streamlining services in Indian Railways. By implementing such technology-driven solutions, IRCTC aims to cater to the evolving needs of passengers, making their rail travel more comfortable and enjoyable. The 'e-pantry' service is expected to attract a positive response from travelers, who can now enjoy their meals without the hassle of leaving their seats.
