Week starts with forecast of heavy rain in SP until Tuesday (10)

São Paulo is expecting heavy rains due to a cold front and the ZCAS phenomenon, with warnings issued for severe weather conditions.

A cold front from the Atlantic Ocean combined with the ZCAS phenomenon (South Atlantic Convergence Zone) is expected to cause cloudy and rainy weather in São Paulo until at least Tuesday (10). The atmospheric conditions, including a humidity corridor extending from the Amazon to the Southeast, have already caused instability in the region, which has been intensified by the arrival of the cold front, leading to increased rainfall predominantly in the northern parts of the state, the central-east, the Paraíba Valley, and the northern coastline.

The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) has issued an orange alert for intense rainfall across the state of São Paulo, parts of Triângulo Mineiro, southern Minas Gerais, and the state of Rio de Janeiro, which is initially valid until the end of Monday. Forecasts indicate rainfall amounts ranging from 30 to 60 mm/h or between 50 and 100 mm/day, accompanied by strong winds reaching 60 to 100 km/h. Such weather poses risks of power outages, fallen tree branches, flooding, and electrical discharges.

As the weather conditions unfold, residents are advised to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions against the potential impacts of these severe weather events. The situation warrants attention, especially in vulnerable areas that may experience flooding and infrastructural damage due to the anticipated heavy rains.
