Two men have died after falling through the ice

Two men in their sixties died after falling into Aksdalsvannet in Rogaland, Norway, on Sunday.

On Sunday, two men in their sixties tragically lost their lives after falling through the ice at Aksdalsvannet in Rogaland, Norway. The local police received a call at 18:38 reporting that someone might have fallen through the ice following cries for help. Emergency services, including search and rescue helicopters, quickly responded and arrived at the scene in Tysvær, Rogaland County.

Earlier in the day, both men were reported to have been skating on the frozen surface of the lake. Sadly, by 19:12, rescue teams discovered two lifeless bodies, which were subsequently airlifted for transport to Haukeland Hospital. Despite attempts at resuscitation in the helicopter, both were pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. The cause of death is currently unknown, but the authorities confirmed that autopsies would be conducted to determine the circumstances surrounding their demise.

The deceased men were residents of Tysvær municipality, and their next of kin have been informed of the tragedy. In the wake of this incident, the police have launched an investigation into the events leading up to the unfortunate accident, highlighting the dangers associated with outdoor activities on frozen bodies of water during the winter months.
