The government of Mauritius expressed gratitude for President Donald Trump's revised position regarding the sovereignty of the Chagos Archipelago after he had dismissed the agreement between London and Port Louis as nonsense just months prior. In a message released on February 5, Trump acknowledged the importance of this agreement for Washington, emphasizing the strategic value of Diego Garcia, which hosts a crucial US military base.
