The upcoming Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina will feature Latvian athletes Elīna Ieva Bota and Kendija Aparjode competing in the luge events. Scheduled for Monday evening, the races will be broadcast live on channel LTV7, with Bota set to compete at 18:00 and Aparjode at 19:30 Latvia time. Bota finished strong in recent training sessions, ranking first in the upper part of the track, while her overall results included a fourth and a ninth place. Aparjode's training results were less favorable, finishing 19th and 13th in her sessions.

Both athletes previously competed in the Beijing Olympics, where Aparjode placed 11th and Bota was 18th in her debut. Notably, Elīza Tīruma, who achieved an 8th place finish four years ago, has since retired from the sport. This year, Latvia is represented by its largest ever delegation of 68 athletes for the 25th Winter Olympic Games, competing in a total of nine sports, marking a significant moment for Latvian sports on an international platform.

The Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina will run until February 22, offering a platform for Latvian athletes to showcase their talents and compete against the best from around the world. With strong training performances and a notable delegation, both Bota and Aparjode aim to improve upon their previous Olympic results and contribute to Latvia's sporting legacy in winter sports.
