Vodafone Greece: Higher revenue in the third quarter of the year
Vodafone Greece reported a 5.5% increase in revenue for the third quarter, despite a decline in mobile customer numbers.
Vodafone Greece announced a 5.5% increase in service revenue for the third quarter of the fiscal year, totaling 247 million euros, compared to 234 million euros in the same period the previous year. This positive revenue trend comes despite a reduction in the total number of mobile customers, which fell to 4,040,000, marking a 6.6% decline from the previous year. Nevertheless, the proportion of postpaid subscribers has increased significantly, indicating a shift in the customer base toward higher-value plans.
The report highlights that postpaid subscribers now constitute 54.2% of Vodafone Greeceβs customer base, up from 48.1% a year earlier, and the company welcomed 29,000 net additions in this category. The average revenue per user (ARPU) for mobile services rose to 11 euros, a notable increase from 10.1 euros, reflecting better performance in monetizing mobile services amid the reduction in customer numbers. This increase in ARPU could suggest that Vodafone is effectively targeting higher-value segments of the market.
On the fixed telephony front, the total number of subscribers decreased slightly by 1.4% to 909,000 compared to the previous year, although there was a slight quarterly increase noted. This dual trend of revenue growth alongside a decrease in subscriber numbers could indicate a strategic shift by Vodafone Greece towards enhancing service quality and profitability, even as they face challenges with customer retention in the mobile sector.
