Russian forces advance slowly in the Donetsk region; Ukraine recaptures a village in the Zaporizhzhia region

Russian troops are making slow progress in the Donetsk region while Ukraine has successfully regained control of a village in the Zaporizhzhia region during ongoing support efforts for Ukraine.

In a month marking four years since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia, the Latvian Public Media (LSM) is collaborating with 'Ziedot.lv' to launch its fifth fundraising campaign from February 9 to 24 to support Ukraine. The campaign aims to provide much-needed energy resources to communities that have faced disruptions due to Russian attacks on energy infrastructure. Donated funds will be allocated for generators, electricity, and heating supplies to assist in these vital areas for Ukrainian civilians.

According to the Ukrainian analytics center 'DeepState,' Russian forces are advancing slowly near the villages of Jampiļas, Bondarnes, and Stepanivkas in the Donetsk region. The reported pace of this advance is so slow that it could take them over two years to gain full control of the region if they continue at this rate. This situation highlights the ongoing challenges faced by Russian forces in their attempts to secure territorial gains amid stiff resistance from Ukrainian defenses.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian authorities have announced the successful retaking of the village of Ternovates in the Zaporizhzhia region, reflecting the ongoing conflict dynamics and Ukraine's efforts to reclaim territory from Russian occupation. This duality of advancing and recapturing territories underscores a complex battlefield situation as both sides navigate the challenges posed by the protracted conflict, with ongoing support for Ukraine being crucial to its defense and recovery efforts.
