'Demand 3 million, or else...': Former employee demands ransom in the name of Lawrence Bishnoi

A man was arrested in Lucknow for allegedly sending a ransom letter demanding 30 lakh rupees in the name of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi to his former employer.

In Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, a man named Umesh Kumar Yadav has been arrested for allegedly threatening his former employer through a ransom letter claiming to represent the notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. The letter demanded a ransom of 30 lakh rupees, with a deadline of 15 days for payment. Law enforcement officials have reported that Yadav had concocted the plan influenced by movies and web series that he had watched.

The police apprehended Yadav with the scooter used in the crime, and they also recovered items he utilized to conceal his identity, including a helmet and a shawl. Gaurav Batra, a businessman residing in Rohit Residency, lodged the complaint on January 30, when a security guard at his pharmaceutical warehouse in the Hind Nagar area received a sealed envelope addressed to him, marking the start of the police investigation into the case.

This incident highlights a concerning trend where individuals may resort to criminal behavior inspired by media portrayals of gangsters and crime, as illustrated by Yadav's motivations.
