The Korea Music Content Association (KMCA) has appointed Woo Seung-hyun, the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) of Wavve, as its new chairman. This appointment follows the organization's decision to introduce a professional management system to adapt to the rapidly changing K-pop industry landscape. The restructuring aims to improve the operational framework of the association, ensuring it can respond proactively to industry challenges and developments.
Woo Seung-hyun brings a wealth of experience to the role, having worked as a reporter for Culture Daily and as the head of Naver's popular culture department. He has also held significant positions at SBS and SMR (Smart Media Rep), a joint venture between SBS and MBC, where he showcased his expertise in managing the evolution of cultural content production. Since 2022, he has been instrumental in overseeing financial and strategic operations at Wavve, allowing him to gain valuable insights into both the cultural and platform-based content industries.
In his new position, Woo aims to transform the KMCA into a more action-oriented body that not only collects industry opinions but also leads discussions on policy and regulatory improvements. He intends to strengthen the association's role as a powerful advocate for the music industry, prioritizing proactive improvements to the business environment and enhancing policy expertise. Woo has a tenure of three years in which he aims to build a sustainable growth foundation together with member companies, affirming his commitment to the development of the industry.
