Police Chief on Backers: - Will Chase Them to the Ends of the Earth

Swedish police have successfully apprehended several wanted gang criminals abroad through intensive international cooperation.

Swedish authorities have made significant strides in apprehending wanted gang criminals who were hiding abroad, thanks to enhanced international collaboration. Police Chief Petra Lundh has advised Norwegian authorities on the importance of building relationships and making personal visits to strengthen cooperation, which has become instrumental in the success of these efforts. Furthermore, Kripos head Kristin Kvigne praised the Swedish police's commitment and effectiveness in capturing these elusive criminals.

Notable captures include Mikael 'Grekeren' Tenezos, who was extradited from Mexico, and Ismail 'Jordgubben' Abdo, currently in custody in Turkey. In January, key leader Ali Shehab from the Foxtrot gang, along with several others, were arrested in Iraq. These operations are part of a long-term initiative by Swedish police, striving to tap into various levels of collaboration across nations, demonstrating their dedication to fighting international crime.

Lundh reflected on the achievements from last year, revealing that their efforts led to the arrest of 280 individuals abroad, nearly 50 of whom were classified as key figures in organized crime. This intensive work illustrates the effectiveness of international policing efforts and calls for sustained global collaboration in combating gang crime, as criminals continue to exploit borders to evade justice.
