Tarcísio's administration holds public consultation for water security projects

The São Paulo government extends the public consultation for its water security project for the PCJ river basin until the 25th of this month to gather community suggestions.

The government of São Paulo has announced an extension of the public consultation period for its water security project concerning the Piracicaba, Capivari, and Jundiaí river basin, collectively known as the PCJ. This public consultation will now remain open until the 25th of this month, providing an opportunity for local residents to share their suggestions and input on the proposed initiatives aimed at enhancing water management in the region.

This water security project, formulated by the Secretary of Partnerships in Investments (SPI), aims to improve the utilization of water resources and ensure a more consistent supply, especially during periods of drought. The initiative is critical as it addresses the growing concern over water scarcity in the region, particularly with the expected increase in dry seasons and the subsequent impacts on local economies and communities.

The projected investment for the water security enhancements in the PCJ system is estimated at R$ 311 million, which will benefit 21 municipalities in the surrounding areas. These cities, including Americana, Campinas, and Valinhos, will undergo infrastructure improvements designed to bolster the area's water supply resilience, a necessity given the challenging climate conditions that have emerged in recent years. The consultation process allows residents to contribute their thoughts via email, ensuring that the developed solutions align with community needs and expectations.
