In the second round of the Portuguese presidential elections, moderate socialist António José Seguro secured a significant victory over the far-right candidate André Ventura, founder of the Chega party. Seguro won with a substantial margin of 64% to 36%, succeeding conservative Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa in the role of President of the Republic.
