Ice skaters take the last of the ice from Pärnu Bay

Ice skaters from various locations are flocking to Pärnu Bay this winter to enjoy the smooth and safe ice conditions.

In the coastal village of Liu in Pärnumaa, Estonia, ice skaters are making the most of the icy conditions on Pärnu Bay this winter. Skaters are coming from nearby cities like Pärnu, Tallinn, and Tartu, excited to glide on the frozen surface. One skater, Jane Susi, described the experience as fantastic, highlighting the smooth and safe ice that makes it a dream for ice skaters.

Participants emphasized the sense of freedom that ice skating on the bay brings, with skater Pille Amburi noting the joy of gliding over empty expanses devoid of cars or buildings. This unique experience allows skaters to explore the bay's ice, with opportunities to venture onto ice-covered islets, creating a mystical and Arctic-like atmosphere that resonates strongly with those on the ice.

Despite their love for skating on smaller, snowy ponds or bogs, many skaters are finding them unsuitable for this season. However, Pärnu Bay provides a breathtaking backdrop and optimal conditions for a memorable skating experience, showcasing the joys of winter in Estonia.
