Several new arrests of Iranian regime critics

Iran has arrested three leading activists from the reform movement, according to state media.

Iranian authorities have made further arrests of prominent critics of the regime, specifically three leading figures within the country's reform movement: Azar Mansouri, Ebrahim Asgharzadeh, and Mohsen Aminzadeh. These individuals were reportedly apprehended by security organizations and judicial bodies. Allegations against them involve threats to national unity and questioning the constitution of Iran, alongside accusations of propaganda and covert subversive activities as stated by the regime-controlled news agency, Fars.

On Saturday, the situation intensified when activist Ghorban Behzadian-Nejad was also arrested after making a pro-reform and critically defiant statement against the regime. The recent spate of arrests highlights the Iranian government's increasing crackdown on dissent, especially given the backdrop of previous deadly harsh actions against demonstrators opposed to the regime.

Independent sources remain scarce, thus making it difficult to ascertain the actual number of arrests following the regime's violent crackdowns on protestors in Iran. The ongoing situation raises concerns about the safety of activists and the extent of repression in the country amidst rising calls for reform and change.
