In a Croatian football league match, Varaždin defeated Osijek 2-1, moving up to third place while Osijek fell to the bottom of the league table.

In the 21st round of the Croatian Football Championship, Varaždin secured a victory over Osijek with a score of 2-1. This match marked Varaždin's third consecutive win and their fifth victory in the last six matches, allowing them to move up to third place in the league standings. The goals for Varaždin were scored by Matej Vuk in the 10th minute and Ivan Mamut in the 62nd minute, whereas Vladan Bubanja scored for Osijek in the 19th minute, equalizing briefly before surrendering the lead.

The match began with an early goal from Varaždin, who took the lead in the 10th minute thanks to a well-executed play involving Mario Maglica's assist to Vuk. Just nine minutes later, Osijek managed to equalize through a corner kick taken by Toni Teklić, with Bubanja being in the right place to convert the rebound into a goal. However, despite their early efforts, Osijek struggled to maintain momentum and ultimately fell short against a determined Varaždin side that showcased effective offense and solid defense throughout the match.

This loss further solidifies Osijek's position at the bottom of the league table, highlighting their struggles this season. Meanwhile, Varaždin can take strength from this performance as they continue to climb the rankings, reflecting an upward trajectory as they chase potential European competition qualification. The outcomes of such matches are critical, not only for the teams involved but also for the broader context of the league as they impact relegation battles and playoff qualifications.
