Following the recent football match between Barcelona SC and Inter Miami, a significant amount of waste was left behind, prompting a major clean-up effort in the area surrounding the Monumental stadium in Ecuador. A total of five tons of debris, including bags, bottles, and cardboard boxes, were collected by local authorities. Mayor Aquiles Alvarez criticized the situation, highlighting that the nearby Barcelona Avenue was left in a disastrous condition after the event.

The clean-up operation took place over the night, involving teams from the waste management concessionaire Urvaseo and the Directorate of Municipal Cleaning and Special Services (Dacmse). The mayor emphasized the need for better civic responsibility, chastising attendees for leaving their trash behind and stressing that the city should not be treated as a dumping ground.

Mayor Alvarez's statement reflects broader concerns about public behavior at large events and calls for a culture of cleanliness and respect for public spaces.
