Atlas closes the signing of forward Agustín Rodríguez
Atlas has successfully finalized the signing of Uruguayan forward Agustín Rodríguez from Juventud de las Piedras.
Atlas has accomplished its goal of securing a new center forward by signing Uruguayan player Agustín Rodríguez, who is expected to arrive in Guadalajara shortly. Rodríguez, who is 27 years old and approaching his 28th birthday, joins the team with hopes of making a significant impact by scoring goals and replacing the previous player, Djuka. The negotiations between Atlas and his former club, Juventud de las Piedras, were reported to be swift and involved a loan with an option to buy, contingent on performance metrics such as minutes played and goals scored.
Rodríguez emerged as one of the two foreign options considered by Atlas's management, with the other option being Guillermo Paiva. After failing to secure Paiva, the decision was made to finalize the deal with Rodríguez, who brings valuable international experience having played in several South American leagues, including those in Chile, Ecuador, Colombia, and Paraguay. This background positions him as a potentially strong asset for Atlas as they aim to strengthen their offensive lineup.
Upon his arrival in Guadalajara, Rodríguez is set to undergo physical and medical examinations before signing his contract, marking the beginning of this new chapter in his career. His addition is anticipated to not only bolster Atlas’s attacking prowess but also add depth to their roster as they compete in the upcoming league season.
