Since October 7, 2023, Israeli forces have escalated their policy of demolishing homes and structures in the West Bank at an alarming rate, with the current tally exceeding 4,000 demolished properties. This significant increase in demolitions has aggravated the existing humanitarian crisis, resulting in more than 40,000 Palestinians being forcibly displaced from their homes. This escalation occurs within a broader context wherein Israel maintains complete control over more than 61% of the West Bank's territory. In an interview with Al Jazeera, a resident named Ammar Abu Sharab described the direct impact of these demolition orders on his family's daily life. Living in the town of Jius, east of Qalqilya, Abu Sharab expressed the anguish of awaiting the demolition of their modest home, which was seen as a long-awaited dream constructed after years of hardship. He stressed the vulnerability of his five young daughters, highlighting their bleak prospects if their home were to be demolished, as they might face the stark reality of living in a tent on the very land where they once had a home.
