Coalition Against the Prosecutor's Office / Šutaj Eštok Promises Different Results in MOM Investigations Than in the Case of the MiGs

Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj Eštok claims that the investigation into the misuse of funds related to MOM (mobile testing sites) is progressing well, contrasting it with past investigations into military equipment donations.

Slovak Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj Eštok announced that the investigation into the mobile testing sites (MOM) is moving in the right direction, and the police will soon reveal the findings regarding the misuse of funds during the pandemic. In a statement on the TA3 television show 'In Politics', he indicated that the outcome of this investigation would be different from that of the investigations related to the donation of military equipment to Ukraine, specifically referring to the MiG-29 fighter jets and S-300 air defense systems that were donated under the previous government.

Eštok emphasized that there remains a widespread social expectation for thorough investigations into pandemic-related spending and the military donations made by the previous government led by Eduard Heger. Moreover, he pointed out that the regional prosecutor, Rastislav Remeta, possibly with the approval of the general prosecutor Maroš Žilinka, has engaged in political commentary concerning the military donations, calling into question the integrity of the current government's decisions compared to its predecessor.

He specifically criticized the actions of the previous cabinet, stating that they did not have the right to make crucial foreign policy decisions when they were already in a caretaker role. This ongoing discussion highlights the political tensions within Slovakia, particularly regarding governmental accountability and the scrutiny of actions taken during the previous administration, which raises significant implications for the current political climate as calls for transparency and justice continue to grow.
