Rescue team attacked by bees, three jawans injured including SDRF officer
A rescue operation in Rajasthan's Alwar district faced unexpected challenges when a bee swarm attacked the team, resulting in injuries to three personnel, amid ongoing efforts to recover the body of a deceased operator.
In a tragic incident occurring in the mining area of Odela village in Ramgarh sub-district of Alwar district, a rescue operation has been fraught with challenges following a landslide that caused a Poclain machine to fall into a 100-foot deep water pit. The operator inside the machine tragically lost his life during the accident. Despite continuous rescue efforts for over 72 hours, the body of the deceased operator has yet to be recovered due to the depth, water-filled conditions, and scattered rocks complicating the relief work.
On the third day of the rescue operation, the team was confronted with an unexpected crisis when a swarm of bees suddenly attacked them amidst the hot weather. The situation turned chaotic as team members ran for cover to protect themselves from the aggressive swarm. The incident resulted in injuries to three personnel from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) – Head Constable Balram, Jaiprakash, and Sarjit – who were stung by the bees, complicating the already difficult rescue efforts.
As the rescue operation continues, the unforeseen attack by the bees highlights the perilous nature of such missions, where not only environmental factors but also wildlife can pose significant risks to responders. The ongoing situation underscores the challenges faced by rescue teams in remote and hazardous terrains, and the pressing need for adequate preparedness for emergency conditions.
