Has the renovation been postponed? At least it can't be justified for these reasons anymore

Danske Bank's Ville Roihu points out that most reasons for delaying renovations have now been eliminated, urging timely planning and execution of necessary repairs.

In a recent statement, Ville Roihu, head of Danske Bank, emphasized that the majority of reasons that contributed to the postponement of community renovations have been resolved. He cited myths regarding high inflation, soaring interest rates, household economic concerns, and shortages in materials and labor as outdated excuses for delaying essential repairs. According to Roihu, the longer renovations are postponed, the greater the accumulated repair debt will become, ultimately resulting in higher costs for future projects.

Roihu highlighted the divisive nature of major renovations among property owners in housing associations, where financial concerns often clash with the need for timely repairs. While some homeowners prefer to avoid accumulating repair debt, others fear the costs associated with immediate renovations and prefer to delay. This tension is commonly seen in association meetings, where opposition can raise outdated myths or flimsy justifications for postponement.

To address these issues, Roihu advocated for long-term planning of renovations, suggesting that housing associations should look forward several decades in their repair schedules. By doing so, they can avoid the pitfalls of accumulating costly repairs over time and tackle necessary renovations proactively instead of reactively, ensuring sustainable property management and improved living conditions for all residents.
