Russian hysteria: a Russian ice dancer hiding under a neutral flag in Milan was banned from using American music for his dance

A Russian ice dancer competing under a neutral flag has been barred from using American music for his routine ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympics due to copyright issues.

A 23-year-old Russian ice dancer, P. Gumennikas, and his team have been informed of a copyright ban on their choice of American music just before heading to the 2026 Winter Olympics. Initially, the plan was to resolve the issue by obtaining permission for the use of the American film music they intended to perform to. However, due to time constraints, this idea was ultimately abandoned. Currently, the team is considering replacing their short program's music with another piece they have in their repertoire from the film "Kopa," which would allow them to perform in Milan on February 10.
