Tero Seppälä: Break at the Olympics - "Accustomed"
Tero Seppälä describes the atmosphere at the Winter Olympics and shares his thoughts on competing at his third Olympics.
Tero Seppälä is set to begin his Olympic journey this Sunday with the mixed relay event at the Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina. This will be his third time competing at the Olympics, and he remarks that the environment in Anterselva is quite familiar since it is a traditional stop on the World Cup circuit. Seppälä notes that the only significant difference at the Olympics compared to regular competitions is the increased police presence, as everything else feels quite common for him and his fellow athletes.
In the Olympic village and accommodations, Seppälä mentions that there is ample space, and he points out a notable difference in the dining experience compared to previous Olympic Games. Instead of buffet-style meals, the dining is done in a typical Italian à la carte style, which he has become accustomed to during World Cup seasons. This reflects a bit of the local flavor and perhaps aims to enhance the experience for the athletes during their stay.
Seppälä emphasizes that his previous experiences at the Olympics have taught him not to view them as overly extraordinary or different from other competitions. He mentions that the competitors are the same throughout the winter season, which reduces the pressure he feels. Although he acknowledges that media attention is significantly higher during the Olympics, he considers it a positive aspect and believes it does not add unnecessary stress to his performance at the games.
