Record participation of 69% in the capitalization of the Athens Stock Exchange

Foreign investors have reached a record participation of 69.3% in the capitalization of the Athens Stock Exchange, marking the highest level ever recorded, with a total value of €82.8 billion.

For the fifth consecutive year, foreign investors have strengthened their position in the Greek stock market, contributing to a historic increase in their participation rate. As of September, the participation of foreign investors in the capitalization of the Athens Stock Exchange reached an unprecedented 69.3%, equivalent to approximately €82.8 billion, the highest amount recorded to date. This significant rise signals growing investor confidence in the Greek economy and stock market.

The increase represents a substantial 34% rise in the value of foreign holdings compared to €60.9 billion recorded at the end of 2024. The continued influx of foreign investment indicates a positive shift in the market dynamics, suggesting that international investors view the Greek stock market as an attractive opportunity for growth. This trend not only boosts the capital flows into Greece but also enhances the overall liquidity of the market.

In addition to the capitalization numbers, foreign participation in market liquidity has also seen an upward trend, rising to 64.1%. This growing dominance of foreign investors in both capitalization and liquidity could lead to more stable market conditions and potentially attract more local investors, further enhancing the robustness of the Athens Stock Exchange.
