Being a Brahmin is not a qualification; anyone from any caste can become the RSS chief: Bhagwat

At the Mumbai Lecture Series, RSS leader Mohan Bhagwat stated that anyone from any caste can occupy the highest position in the organization, and being a Brahmin is not a special qualification.

During the second day of the Mumbai Lecture Series, Mohan Bhagwat, the chief of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), addressed various social and political issues, emphasizing that individuals from any caste can attain the highest ranks within the RSS. He clarified that belonging to a Scheduled Caste or Tribe does not pose any hindrance and that being a Brahmin does not grant any particular advantage. While acknowledging that there were more Brahmins at the inception of the organization, he asserted that the RSS operates for the benefit of all castes.

Bhagwat also discussed public curiosity regarding the funding of the RSS, stating that the organization primarily relies on the support of its volunteers rather than external sources. He mentioned that during outreach programs, volunteers often stay in the homes of supporters and subsist on the food provided by them, highlighting the community-oriented nature of the RSS.

The lecture series, themed '100 Years of Sangh Journey - New Horizons,' covered a range of topics including the organizational methodology of the RSS, caste issues, language disputes, conversions, and illegal immigration. Bhagwat concluded by stressing that there is no animosity towards English and emphasized the importance of embracing all languages and cultures as part of India's diversity.
