Saudi Arabia has announced a significant new initiative to issue passports for camels, aimed at better organizing and modernizing the camel sector in the country. The Deputy Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, Mansour Almushaite, officially launched the 'Camel Passport' system, which is part of the larger Vision 2030 plan aimed at diversifying the economy and enhancing various sectors of life in the kingdom. This initiative underscores the cultural importance of camels in the Arab world and aims to ensure better record-keeping and health information for these animals.

The Camel Passport will serve as an official document that clearly records the identity, health details, and ownership of camels, thereby enhancing the quality of services and fostering trust in camel trading. As the nation gears up for the implementation of this system, it is estimated that approximately 2.2 million camels will eventually be included in the program, ensuring that all camels in the country can be tracked and authenticated properly. The ministry has also shared an image of the green passport, featuring the national emblem and a gold-like image of a camel, which illustrates the unique and significant role that camels play in Saudi culture.
