Shannon Mathre, a man from Toledo, Ohio, has been charged with making threats against U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance. The charge, announced by the Department of Justice, stems from a threat made prior to a planned visit by Vance to Ohio, where Mathre allegedly stated his intentions to track Vance's movements and use an M14 rifle to kill him. This serious accusation has prompted intervention by the U.S. Secret Service, resulting in Mathre's arrest on February 6.

In addition to the threats against Vance, the arrest revealed that Mathre was found in possession of child sexual abuse material, expanding the gravity of the situation.
