A snowplow driver tragically died after his vehicle fell from a height of 20 meters in the mountain pass of El Pico, Ávila.
In a tragic incident on Saturday afternoon, a 40-year-old snowplow driver lost his life when the vehicle he was operating plunged off a 20-meter slope in the El Pico mountain pass, located in the southern part of the Ávila province. The accident occurred around 4:10 PM at kilometer 56 of the N-502 road, which connects Ávila to Córdoba. Emergency services reported that the driver was trapped inside the vehicle following the fall.
The accident prompted an immediate response from several emergency services, including the Junta de Castilla y León's rescue group and volunteer Civil Protection teams from nearby towns. The Civil Guard and the Ávila fire department were also involved in the rescue operation. Given the challenging circumstances of the incident, efforts were focused on recovering the driver from the snowplow’s cabin and ensuring further safety in the area to prevent additional accidents.
