Estonian Minister of Regional Affairs and Agriculture, Hendrik Johannes Terras, has convened an emergency meeting to discuss the current state of transport connections to the islands, which have been severely impacted by adverse weather conditions and technical failures. The meeting is scheduled for Monday morning and aims to improve communication between government agencies and local municipalities while working towards alternative solutions to maintain transportation links.

The disruptions include the interruption of ferry services to Vormsi island and the implementation of mass restrictions and cancellations across various locations. Severe weather, along with ice-related issues, has been a significant contributor to these transportation challenges. Minister Terras has invited infrastructure minister Kuldar Leis and representatives from municipalities encompassing island communities, including Saaremaa, Hiiumaa, Muhu, and others.
