Oil spill on avenue causes vehicle to skid and motorcyclist to fall in Campinas; VIDEO
An oil spill on Avenida São José dos Campos in Campinas led to a vehicle skidding and a motorcyclist falling, as recorded by a witness.
On Saturday morning, an oil leak partially closed Avenida São José dos Campos at the entrance of Swiss Park in Campinas, São Paulo. The incident was captured on video by a witness who experienced her vehicle skidding as a result of the spill and recorded a motorcyclist's fall on the roadway. Despite the alarming video, authorities from Emdec stated that they did not verify any accidents occurring from the spill.
According to Emdec, the oil leak originated from a vehicle on the nearby Anhanguera Highway (SP-330) before impacting the Avenue. In response to the hazard, teams from the concessionary AutoBAn and Emdec were dispatched to the scene to apply sawdust on affected areas in order to absorb the oil and mitigate further accidents. Despite the initial concern, traffic in the vicinity was reported to be flowing normally by the afternoon of the same day.
This incident underscores the risks associated with oil spills on public roads, especially under busy traffic conditions, where skidding and falls can pose significant dangers to motorists and motorcyclists alike. The quick response by local emergency teams helped to limit potential injuries, but raises questions about vehicle maintenance and spill management on highways.
