Ine Eriksen Søreide, the incoming leader of Norway's Conservative Party, recently confirmed that in 2019 she became aware of a warning concerning the International Peace Institute (IPI) and its connection to financier Jeffrey Epstein, who had been convicted of crimes against minors and was facing charges of child prostitution at the time. The warning alleged potential illegalities linked to Epstein and was reportedly examined at a governmental level, clarifying the seriousness with which the issue was addressed.

Søreide communicated through her advisor that the alert was taken seriously, leading the Foreign Ministry to act promptly by forwarding the information to the Norwegian National Authority for Investigation and Prosecution of Economic and Environmental Crime in November 2019. The steps taken underscore a commitment to uphold legal standards and address potential wrongdoing within institutions, particularly in international contexts where ethical guidelines are critical.

Furthermore, Søreide noted that the situation did not raise questions regarding her own impartiality, implying that the actions taken were in line with official protocols to safeguard integrity in governance.
