Flávio Henrique Fleury, the uncle of 16-year-old Rodrigo Castanheira, shared his grief on social media following his nephew's tragic death, which resulted from a violent attack over something as trivial as chewing gum. Rodrigo was reportedly assaulted in Vicente Pires by 19-year-old Pedro Turra, leading to a severe head injury after he fell against a car door, from which he would not recover despite 16 days of hospitalization in critical condition.

The altercation began as a heated dispute over chewing gum, reflecting how minor disagreements can escalate into fatal outcomes, especially among the youth. The family’s attorney confirmed that Rodrigo did not survive the injuries sustained during the attack. Turra, the assailant, is currently held in preventive detention at the Papuda Penitentiary Complex as the legal proceedings begin to unfold.
