Health House by House reaches 653 thousand beneficiaries in Michoacán

The Salud Casa por Casa program has provided free medical care to over 653,000 beneficiaries in Michoacán, focusing on the elderly and individuals with disabilities.

The Salud Casa por Casa program, initiated by the Secretaría del Bienestar and supported by the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, has successfully reached 653,136 beneficiaries in Michoacán. This initiative aims to enhance health care accessibility for vulnerable populations, particularly the elderly and disabled, by providing home visits from medical professionals, ensuring that these individuals receive ongoing health support where they live.

In Michoacán, the program has successfully operated across all 113 municipalities, which allows for a broad reach within the state. Beneficiaries not only receive free medical attention in their homes but also benefit from the Pensión para el Bienestar, a pension scheme designed to support the elderly. The program signifies a significant investment in preventive health care, as it allows for early intervention and regular monitoring, reducing the potential for more severe health complications down the line.

Data from the Secretaría del Bienestar indicates that a substantial portion of the beneficiaries consists of 602,880 elderly individuals and 50,254 persons with disabilities, highlighting the program's crucial role in supporting these demographics. The case of Ahnely Guadalupe Herrera Hernández, who has directly experienced the program's impact, exemplifies how such initiatives can save lives and improve the quality of care within the community, ultimately reinforcing the value of accessible health services in mitigating health disparities.
