After agreeing with Kirchnerism, Axel Kicillof will be the new president of the Buenos Aires PJ
Governor Axel Kicillof will take over as the president of the Buenos Aires Provincial Justicialist Party (PJ) following an agreement with Kirchnerism, replacing Máximo Kirchner.
Governor Axel Kicillof has been confirmed as the new president of the Buenos Aires Provincial Justicialist Party (PJ) after a strategic agreement was reached with Kirchnerism, ensuring a smooth transition without internal party conflicts. This decision comes just two days before the deadline for closing candidate lists, highlighting the urgency and importance of party unity ahead of upcoming elections.
In the agreement, significant positions within the party have been allocated. Federico Otermin, the mayor of Lomas de Zamora and a close associate of Máximo Kirchner, will serve as the second vice president, while Mariano Cascallares from Almirante Brown, who is aligned with Kicillof, will become the secretary general. These appointments are crucial as they will shape the party's electoral strategy moving forward.
Furthermore, Máximo Kirchner retains a prominent role as the president of the Party Congress, replacing Fernando Espinoza, the mayor of La Matanza. The formation of this new leadership under Kicillof marks a decisive moment for the PJ in Buenos Aires as they aim to consolidate power and present a united front in the face of political challenges in the region.
