Somali Minister: We will not allow Israel to use our land to threaten neighbors
The Somali Minister of Information asserts that Somalia will not permit Israel to use its territory for threats against neighboring countries, condemning Israel's actions as violations of Somali sovereignty.
In a recent statement, the Somali Minister of Information, Daud Aweys Jama, emphasized Somalia's firm stance against the alleged violations of its sovereignty by Israel. Speaking to Al Jazeera during the 17th Al Jazeera Forum in Doha, he articulated that the Israeli actions come at a particularly challenging time for Somalia, which is currently engaged in fighting international terrorism within its borders. The Minister highlighted the necessity of maintaining Somalia's territorial integrity and the regional security implications of Israeli activities.
Jama pointed out that the repercussions of Israeli violations extend beyond Somalia, affecting regional security in the Horn of Africa and the broader Middle East. He expressed concern that such actions pose a serious risk not only to Somali stability but also to global security and stability. The Minister urged the international community and relevant stakeholders to understand Somalia's plight and back its diplomatic responses, which have been producing positive results thus far.
He reiterated that Somalia is committed to resolving the situation through diplomatic channels. This underscores Somalia's desire for peaceful relations and the importance of cooperative international ties amid broader tensions in the region. Jama's comments call attention to the need for a collective regional approach to security, especially in the face of perceived external threats.
