The Special Investigation Team (SIT) engaged in probing the Sabarimala gold theft case conducted an extensive interrogation of Congress MP Adoor Prakash in Thiruvananthapuram, lasting around two and a half hours. Prakash arrived at the Crime Branch Headquarters after receiving a notice and cooperated fully with the investigation, addressing all inquiries raised by the SIT regarding his involvement and responses. This development is part of a broader investigation that has led to the arrest of twelve individuals involved in the case.
During the questioning, Prakash revealed that he had returned from Kasargod the previous day and was approached by the SIT for clarification on certain issues related to the case. Although some questions pertained to his connection with main accused Unnikrishnan Potty, Prakash clarified that he provided all the necessary details and that no inquiries were made regarding any financial transactions during the questioning. The SIT has also previously interrogated Potty, who has since been released on bail, indicating the ongoing nature of the investigation.
As the SIT continues to unveil the complexities of the Sabarimala gold theft, the focus on political figures such as Prakash suggests the case has significant implications for local politics and governance. This scrutiny highlights the intertwining of crime and political influence, and further proceedings will likely revolve around the testimonies being gathered, which will determine future legal actions against those involved in this prominent case.
