Teenager dies after being assaulted in Vicente Pires following 15 days hospitalized in DF

A 16-year-old boy who was severely injured in a fight in Vicente Pires has died after 16 days in a critical state at a hospital in the Federal District.

A 16-year-old teenager from Vicente Pires has succumbed to injuries sustained during an assault, passing away after 16 days of hospitalization in critical condition. The incident occurred on January 23 when the victim was involved in a fight and was attacked by 19-year-old pilot Pedro Arthur Turra Basso. During the altercation, the victim suffered a traumatic brain injury after hitting his head on a car door and was left in a coma for a prolonged period prior to his death.

The aggressor, Pedro Turra, is currently in preventive custody at the Centro de Detenção Provisória in the Papuda penitential complex and has been under investigation since early February. The authorities have confirmed that Turra is facing serious charges due to the violent act that led to the young boy's coma and eventual death. On February 6, the Superior Court of Justice denied a request for habeas corpus made by Turra, indicating the serious nature of the crime and the ongoing legal proceedings against him.

This tragic event underscores issues related to youth violence and the need for more effective measures to address such conflicts, particularly in urban neighborhoods like Vicente Pires. The community is left grappling with the loss of a young life, as well as the implications of violent behavior among its youth, and calls for justice are echoing as the legal case against Turra unfolds in the courts.
