The murder of Aam Aadmi Party leader Lucky Oberoi in Jalandhar, Punjab, has sparked major concerns regarding the state's law and order situation. The attack occurred in broad daylight, around 7:30 AM, when Oberoi was shot as he was leaving a gurdwara and getting into his Mahindra Thar vehicle. An unidentified assailant approached him and opened fire. Police sources indicate that the attack might be rooted in personal enmity, and an unofficial social media post associated with gangster Joga Folriwala seemed to take responsibility for the act. This post alleged that the murder was a result of a dispute related to college presidency.
