Patrīcija Eiduka Wins 23rd Place in Skiathlon; Scandinavian Women Dominate
Latvian skier Patrīcija Eiduka secured 23rd place in the 10+10 kilometer skiathlon at the Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo Olympics.
At the Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, Latvian skier Patrīcija Eiduka finished 23rd in the 10+10 kilometer skiathlon event held on Saturday. The race was dominated by Scandinavian athletes, with Swedish skier Frida Karlsson winning the gold medal in a time of 53 minutes and 45.2 seconds. Another Swedish competitor, Ebba Andersson, took the silver, finishing just over a minute behind Karlsson, while Norway's Heidi Weng secured the bronze, trailing by 1 minute and 26.7 seconds.
Eiduka's performance, completing the distance in 58 minutes and 2.4 seconds, was commendable considering the high level of competition, with 70 athletes participating in the event. The Olympics represent a significant milestone for Latvian sports, as the current Winter Games features the largest delegation in history from the country, comprised of 68 athletes competing in nine different sports.
As the Winter Olympics continue until February 22, attention will also turn to other Latvian athletes, including luge competitors Kristers Aparjods and Gints Bērziņš, who are scheduled to compete in their first two runs later today.
