Photos from the gang's 'fortress' with smuggled cigarettes: Security cameras recorded every corner
Photos reveal a stronghold used by a smuggling gang for distributing contraband cigarettes, captured on security cameras during a police operation.
Security footage has unveiled the operation base of a cigarette smuggling gang located in a house on the outskirts of Ano Liosia, near Attica Road. This stronghold served as the central hub for storing and dispatching smuggled cigarettes. Operatives from the gang were apprehended during extensive coordinated operations by the Greek FBI across regions such as Attica, Viotia, Magnesia, and Katerini.
The 'headquarters' of the organization was strategically positioned to facilitate the receipt and movement of contraband cigarettes. Boxes filled with smuggled goods were transported from a production facility in Avlona to this site. From this storage location, gang members would either redistribute the illegal merchandise to other clandestine warehouses or directly engage in smuggling operations.
This operation highlights the ongoing struggle against organized crime in Greece, particularly concerning the illegal tobacco trade, which poses financial risks to the economy and public health. The police actions not only showcase advancements in law enforcement efforts but also draw attention to the broader implications of smuggling networks that thrive on such illicit activities.
