The NŽT started 53 investigations last year into the work of surveyors and geodesists: 3 were handed over to law enforcement
In 2022, the NŽT initiated 53 investigations into surveyors and geodesists, with three cases involving document forgery being referred to law enforcement.
Last year, the National Land Service (NŽT) launched 53 investigations into the practices of surveyors and geodesists. According to their reports, more than half of these investigations were resolved quickly, as individuals acknowledged violations and corrected their mistakes, thereby avoiding penalties. This indicates a proactive approach by the NŽT in addressing issues within land measurement and surveying practices.
However, three specific cases have escalated to law enforcement due to serious allegations of document forgery. In one instance, a surveyor was found guilty by a court, while the other two cases are still under preliminary investigation. This highlights a significant area of concern for the NŽT, particularly regarding the integrity of documentation and the processes involved in land surveying.
The service noted that most violations occurred during the marking of land plots, frequently involving the exclusion of mandatory persons from the process, failure to comply with legal deadlines, and inaccuracies in establishing cadastral information about buildings. Such discrepancies not only undermine the credibility of land management but also pose long-term implications for property rights and urban planning in Lithuania.
