Mistakes in Veikkaus' result broadcast - here's what happened
A broadcasting error occurred during the Veikkaus lottery results show, displaying the wrong winning numbers from a previous draw.
During the television broadcast of the Veikkaus Milli lottery results, viewers were surprised to see incorrect numbers displayed on screen. Instead of the correct results from the draw held on February 6, the broadcast mistakenly showed results from an earlier draw that took place on January 6. Minna Sundholm from Veikkaus communications explained that the error was due to a human mistake, acknowledging that it was an unfortunate oversight that occurred after minor changes were made to the broadcast production.
Sundholm reassured viewers that despite the broadcast confusion, the lottery draw itself proceeded without any issues, and the wrong broadcast did not affect the actual winning numbers. The correct winning combination from the February 6 draw was later verified as 10, 15, 18, 23, 27, and 34, with a supplementary number of 17, and it was revealed that there were 20,216 winners from this draw. The incident has been addressed, and preparations are underway to ensure that the next broadcast will run smoothly.
This incident highlights the challenges media outlets face in live broadcasts and the impact of human errors in conveying important information. While the actual lottery draw remained intact, the blunder in communication could have created confusion among viewers and participants, emphasizing the need for accuracy and reliability in such transmissions. Veikkaus has committed to making necessary adjustments to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
