Team Canada fan festival lands in Toronto
A fan festival celebrating Canada’s Olympic athletes is taking place in Toronto’s Nathan Phillips Square this weekend, offering various activities despite the cold weather.
The Team Canada FanFest is a coast-to-coast event series organized by the Canadian Olympic Committee to gather fans and support the nation's athletes during the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics. Happening at Nathan Phillips Square in Toronto, the festival includes opportunities for families and sports fans to skate with Olympic athletes and enjoy live broadcasts of Olympic events.
Participants will have the chance to meet high-profile Canadian athletes, including figure skaters Elvis Stojko and Dylan Moscovitch, snowboarder Calynn Irwin, and artistic gymnast Jessica Tudos. Additionally, this event aims to rekindle the Olympic spirit in Canada after its successful introduction for the Paris Games in 2024.
Despite the harsh winter conditions prompting a warning from Environment Canada, the festival is expected to draw large crowds as people come together to cheer on their Olympic representatives. The FanFest will conclude on Sunday evening, serving as a vibrant prelude to the upcoming athletic competitions in Italy.
