20 million early voters by the 6th, an increase of 26% or 4.36 million from the previous election
Around 20 million people have participated in early voting for the upcoming Japanese House of Representatives election, marking a significant increase compared to the last election.
The Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs announced on the 7th that from the day after the announcement on the 28th of last month until the 6th of this month, 20,796,327 people have cast their votes in early voting for the House of Representatives election. This number represents an increase of 4,363,881 people or 26.56% compared to the same period in the 2024 election. Furthermore, the percentage of eligible voters participating in early voting has risen to 20.09%, significantly outpacing the previous election's figure of 15.82% by 4.27 points. Voter turnout in all prefectures has also increased from previous election figures, demonstrating a heightened engagement across the country.
