The Psychiatry Foundation is auctioning off elephants in the fight against mental illness
The Psychiatry Foundation is auctioning 30 artistically decorated elephants to raise awareness about mental illness as part of its 30th anniversary celebration.
The Psychiatry Foundation in Denmark is hosting an auction of 30 artistically decorated elephants to draw attention to the ongoing stigma surrounding mental illness, which they describe as the 'elephant in the room' that people are reluctant to discuss. This initiative marks the organization's 30th anniversary and aims to foster a better dialogue about mental health issues within society.
Each elephant is uniquely designed by various Danish artists, including noted names like Bjørn Nørgaard, Qnud Kaos, and Christina Julsgaard, showcasing the creative talent of the country while simultaneously promoting an important cause. The auction is being conducted online by Bruun Rasmussen, and interested bidders have until February 24 to place their bids, thereby supporting mental health awareness through their participation.
Through this auction, the Psychiatry Foundation hopes to spark conversations about mental health and encourage a culture of openness and support for those affected by mental disorders. The initiative not only celebrates the foundation's 30 years of effort in the field but also acts as a crucial reminder about the importance of addressing mental health in public discourse.
