USU: Lindtman is the clear favorite

SDP's chairman Antti Lindtman is the overwhelming favorite among Finns to become the next prime minister, according to a recent USU poll.

According to a recent poll conducted by Uutissuomalainen, SDP chairman Antti Lindtman has emerged as the clear favorite among Finnish voters for the position of the next prime minister, with 21% of respondents backing him. This result mirrors a previous poll from July, reaffirming Lindtman's popularity among both men and women in Finland.

Following Lindtman in popularity are current Prime Minister Petteri Orpo, chairman of the National Coalition Party, and Antti Kaikkonen, chairman of the Centre Party, both of whom received 12% support in the poll. Kaikkonen saw a rise in support, increasing by two percentage points compared to the last poll, reflecting shifting dynamics within the Finnish political landscape as the next elections approach.

The poll also indicated that Riikka Purra, the chairman of the Finns Party and the Minister of Finance, ranks only sixth among the potential candidates for prime minister, suggesting a decline in her appeal among the electorate. Other notable figures include Minja Koskela of the Left Alliance and Sofia Virta of the Greens, both of whom garnered more support than Purra, emphasizing a potential shift in party alliances and public sentiment as Finland moves towards its next election cycle.
