An increase in solar wind is expected this weekend, raising the chances of seeing the Northern Lights in Finland.

The U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Space Weather Prediction Center reports that Earth was hit by successive bursts of solar particles affecting the magnetic field, with forecasts for additional impacts overnight.

A solar active region known as 4366 has recently generated 27 solar flares, sending a stream of charged particles toward Earth, but NOAA forecasts a minor geomagnetic storm expected to be short-lived later this week.
