Austrian Federal Railways ÖBB has announced the successful conclusion of three-week winter trials for the Digital Automatic Coupling (DAC), which aims to replace manual screw couplings.

The Paris–Berlin night train is being discontinued by ÖBB not due to low demand, but because of cut subsidies and high costs, prompting new companies to seek opportunities to fill the gap, with the main competition coming from other transport modes.
